Meet the Androids: Series 03 Preview (pt10)

As Android Series 03 finally starts hitting shops, here’s our last “preview” update – weekend special edition! There are a few designs from returning artist Scott Tolleson and previouslt featured KRONK that we haven’t shown off yet.. but we have to leave a little mystery for those of you who don’t want the rare figures spoiled!

This valiant warrior has seen many a fierce fight. Every night he ventures into the unknown, unaware of what fresh hell awaits. He battles unimaginable beasts deep within Feature Creep Keep… (I think I just had an idea for another Android design.) Sir Knightly Bild was designed by me, and has a 1/16 ratio.

Last but not least today is Gary Ham‘s nocturnal predator, Whoogle the Owl. This striking design comes in a 2/16 ratio, so you’ll have a full parliament in no time (yes, a group of owls is called a parliament… whooo knew! sorry).

His 3D turnaround isn’t quite ready yet, but we’ll be sure to post it in the future so you can get a look at his beautiful butt plumage.

You thought your teachers were tough? This one is mostly metal! Well, ok it’s still technically vinyl, but don’t tell the good Professor Skully McRivethead that. Artist Huck Gee brings his distinct touch to Android with this awesome design, 1/16 ratio.

T
his little guy has a built-in keychain attachment and features an articulated head and arms, and legs that move enough to let him sit up unaided. 2 for 1, can’t go wrong! 1/16 ratio.

C

Android Mini wins Designer Toy Awards honor for Fan Favorite!

Trophy designed by Pete Fowler! Photo Courtesy NotCot

Last week in San Diego marked the annual gathering of the worlds biggest convention of comic, toy, game and pop culture fans at the 2011 International Comic Con. It also marked the first annual Designer Toy Awards put on by our friends at Clutter Magazine. I was proud to be the recipient of the coveted “Fan Favorite” award for my work on the Android Mini Collectibles project! Thanks to everyone who voted!

Special editions coming soon!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to San Diego for this years Comic-Con! We blew through some Blue Fin Sashimi at Dumbrella, while the special edition Hero and Villain Android mini collectibles battled it out over at the DKE booth. We even won an award somewhere in there, it’s still a bit of a blur..

If you missed out on the comic-con madness, the special edition Androids will be available in the Dead Zebra Shop starting August 1st, and they’ll be hitting some of our Asian retailers shortly. A smaller quantity of Blue Fin Sashimi figures will also be available! Details and times to follow shortly after I recover from the convention and fly back to New York!

Android Mini Collectible Summer special editions!

Making their debut at the 2011 International Comic-Con in San Diego, this limited special edition set of Android mini figures designed by Andrew Bell is sure to please the summer movie and comic loving crowd. One design will be available per day  for 4 days starting on Wednesday July 20th at the booth of our distributor, DKE Toys (#4728)!

Got stuck in your man-sized sexy fox costume zipper and are bleeding on the hotel room floor unable to make it to the convention that day (or maybe you’re just not going to the con)? Fear not caped crusader, as we will be making a number of sets available online shortly after the con at the Dead Zebra Shop and via several of our partner shops in Asia. Specifics to follow later!

If you want to try your luck at the Dead Zebra Shop, we’ll be putting some of our stock up starting this Thursday night at 11pm EST (4 GMT) and again on Friday at 11am EST (16 GMT). Limited to 16 total pieces (1 case) per household for at least the first few releases. We’ll have some more after that, but we’ll need a week or so to catch up!  It’s a good time to brush up on the Limited Edition release FAQ.

Standard Green Android hitting shops

As I had mentioned a while back, future releases like the Green, DIY and Series 02 Androids will be available from a variety of shops. We got our first shipment of Standard Green Androids in, and they are showing up at retailers! The green guys have their own dedicated box this time.

Here is a quick short list of some shops that have / will have them, many of these shops have physical locations as well! I’ll have mine up in a week or so.

Miss out on a snowman? We’ll have a few more up randomly throughout the week.

Also a good time to note that there has been a flood of the crappy knockoffs, if it sounds too cheap to be true, it probably is. Any “short box” style unopened Series 1 or Green/White toys you see for sale from questionable retailers out there are likely bad copies.
